The Hawaiian Islands are being advised to monitor Tropical Storm Flossie through the weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Fla.

The Hawaiian Islands are being advised to monitor Tropical Storm Flossie through the weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Fla.

The center’s current five-day probable path of the storm shows it reaching the Big Island at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Tropical Flossie is now located about 1,520 miles east of Hilo and is moving west-northwestward at 18 miles per hour. This general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days.

Its maximum sustained winds are 50 miles per hour, with higher gusts. The storm should begin to gradually weaken by Sunday.
